Cookie & Storage Policy

What Tannin stores

Tannin & Taste uses browser storage to keep essential sign-in state, saved pairings, hosting plans, preferences, and offline application files. These functions make the service work and remember the choices you ask it to keep.

Your legal-drinking-age affirmation is remembered in this browser until you clear its storage. This choice does not include your date of birth or verify your identity.

Essential providers

Amazon Cognito supports account authentication, AWS hosts the service, and Stripe supports web membership checkout and billing. These providers may set or receive essential identifiers when you use their services.

Usage and optional measurement

An essential, randomly generated browser cookie keeps track of the shared weekly search allowance. It lasts up to one year. The server keeps search results for 28 days so an interrupted request can be recovered without using another search. When you sign in, identifiable guest usage is linked to your account. Clearing cookies or using an unrelated device cannot be reliably linked without sign-in.

Optional usage measurement is off until you enable it in the page footer. It counts actions such as opening membership or saving a result, without sending search text, email addresses or account identifiers. You can turn it off in the same place. Event receipts expire after 90 days; daily totals after one year. The service separately counts completed searches and quota blocks to operate the allowance reliably. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

Your controls

You can clear local browser data through your browser settings. Doing so may sign you out and remove information stored only on that device. Signed-in users can download or delete their account data from the profile page.
