Our Approach
Tannin & Taste is designed to help you choose, pair, host, and remember wine beautifully. We collect only the information needed to run the product, support your account, improve recommendations, and maintain account access.
Information We May Collect
- Account details you provide, such as name and email address.
- Pairing inputs, menu items, bottle searches, saved dinners, saved wines, ratings, notes, and taste preferences.
- Account status information, such as whether profile access is active.
- Technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as request timing, network address, browser details, security events, and application version.
- Support messages you send to us, including your email address and the content of your request.
How We Use Information
- To provide wine pairing, hosting, saved collection, and taste memory features.
- To maintain your account and profile status.
- To improve recommendation quality, search reliability, and product design.
- To respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues.
- To protect the app, prevent misuse, and meet legal or platform requirements.
Local Taste Memory
Taste Memory uses your searches, saves, ratings, and cellar decisions to make Tannin more useful over time. You can reset Taste Memory from the profile area.
Service Providers
Amazon Web Services hosts the service and account system, Amazon SES delivers account email, and Stripe processes web membership billing. Providers process information only for the services they supply to Tannin.
Retention and Security
Successful search results are recoverable for 28 days, separately from anything you choose to save. A random browser cookie links your weekly allowance to this browser. When you sign in, that allowance is linked to your account. Deleting saved or search content does not reset the weekly allowance.
Optional product measurement is off until you enable it in the footer. It records actions such as opening a result or saving a pairing, without the dish text, email address or account name. Duplicate-event records expire after 90 days; anonymous daily totals expire after 366 days. Essential usage and reliability records operate separately. See Cookies and storage for the browser controls.
We retain account and product data while your account is active and as reasonably needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Tannin uses access controls, encryption, logging, backups, and monitoring appropriate to the service. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Access, Correction, Export, and Deletion
Signed-in users can download or delete account data from the profile page. You may also request access, correction, or deletion by emailing privacy@tannin.wine. Limited billing, security, or legal records may be retained where required or permitted by law.
International Processing and Children
Service providers may process information outside your province or country, where it may be subject to local law. Tannin & Taste is for people of legal drinking age and is not directed to children.
Alcohol Sales
Tannin & Taste does not sell alcohol, process alcohol orders, ship alcohol, or act as a liquor retailer. Bottle examples, prices, and availability references are educational and may vary by location.
