About Tannin & Taste

Salt, fat, heat, acid, sauce and texture guide the choice, not crowd ratings. Your saved tastes help refine it. When a pairing is uncertain, Tannin says so.

Enter ribeye steak and choose Pair it. Tannin recommends Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Malbec, with a reason for each. Questions

Do I need to know about wine?

No. Start with the dish as you would describe it at dinner. Include the sauce or cooking method when you can. Tannin suggests wine styles and explains why they fit.

Do you sell wine?

No. Tannin is for people choosing wine with food, not for buying bottles or tracking wine ratings. It does not sell or deliver bottles. A membership pays for guidance, not wine. You choose where to buy.

How does Tannin decide what works?

Tannin matches food and wine structure: acidity, sweetness, tannin, heat, weight and preparation. Your saved tastes can help refine a choice, but should not override the dish. These are recommendations, not a promise that every bottle will suit you. Difficult pairings are marked as careful choices; when a match is uncertain, Tannin says so.

How is this different from a wine rating?

A rating tells you how someone liked a wine. Tannin starts with what you are serving and explains why a style fits. Use a rating app to explore a particular bottle; use Tannin to work out what belongs with dinner. Compare Tannin and Vivino.

What is free, and what does Premium add?

Start with one successful free search a week, with no card required. Tannin Premium is CA$3.99 a month for unlimited pairings, deeper bottle guidance and hosting plans. A free account is not a paid trial. Compare free and Premium.

Can Tannin plan wine for guests?

Yes. Host is part of Premium. Enter the menu, guest count and budget for bottles mapped to each course, quantities, serving notes and a backup option. Budget figures are buying targets, not retailer quotes.
